To begin 2017, WAM will be rewarding the best music written by WA songwriters with over $40,000 of prizes on offer. Entries for WAM Song Of The Year 2016/2017 are now open until the February 9. To submit your entry head to www.songoftheyear.com.au.
Entrants of all ages, levels and genres are welcome with 16 categories available offering winners a $500 cash prize, studio time and more. Categories include Blues and Roots, Country, Electronic, Experimental, Folk, Jazz, Metal/Heavy, Pop, Rock, Punk/Hardcore, Urban/Hip-Hop and World plus categories for schools.
Winners of a category are then eligible to win Song of the Year, which offers $3000 and a three-day recording and production session with one of Australia’s top producers, Anna Laverty, a chance for a publishing and sync licensing deal with Pitch Perfect publishing plus more.
Song Of The Year is available to songwriters of all levels from beginners to known stars. The competition offers entrants exposure to leading music industry judges and recognition by Australian radio and media.
City of Fremantle will once again be the major sponsor for the competition where winners will be announced at the Awards Party being held for the first time at the WA Maritime Museum on Wednesday May 17.
