 TSTM Perth -

It’s one of the world’s top shops, not so much because of its name, but more so for its trending fashion pieces at affordable prices. PENNY LANE speaks to Australian Topshop/Topman owner and chairman Hilton Seskin about bringing the brand to WA, and what we can expect to see in store over the next few months.

Global giant Topshop has finally made its way to the west. Friday marked the official launch of Perth’s flagship Topshop store, with a selected few receiving a behind-the-scenes look on Thursday night. The pre-launch saw 30 industry professionals and insiders given first dibs on sparkly high-neck tops, sleek jumpsuits and cool and casual denim, along with the opportunity to meet the owners, stylists and staff during a sit down dinner created by local chef favourite Matt Stone.

Owner and chairman Hilton Seskin was among the crowd, and shared his thoughts on why Topshop is one of fashion’s biggest success stories.

“Topshop Topman is worn by celebrities including Cara Delevigne and Kate Middleton, yet is easily accessible and can be worn by the regular fashionista too,” Hilton says. “The brand offers consumers a complete accessible yet authoritative wardrobe solution covering all aspects of fashion.”

Topshop is also the only high street brand to show on the official schedule at London Fashion Week, and continues to be a trendsetter thanks to its collaborations with the likes of Kate Moss, Marques Almeida, and, most recently, Beyoncé.

“The brand has been amazingly successful so far in Australia as it has an offering for a forever young individual who loves fashion, the latest trends and with two deliveries being flown in from the UK every week to maintain freshness, it is always exciting for the consumer,” Hilton says. “As one of Australia’s fastest growing capital cities, we believe the people of Perth understand international brands and they deservedly should have representation from these brands in the market. Topshop Topman presents an authoritive array of current international fashion trends across many categories, at affordable prices to the Perth community.”

The chairman says Perth is the sixth flagship store to open in Australia.

“Perth was a priority city to bring Topshop Topman to, but it did take time to find the right location,” Hilton says. “We are happy that we waited and landed on Carillion City, as this is a great location for us.” The store, which is situated next to Zara, is a double storey offering of women’s and men’s clothing and accessories.

“Outside of the normal fashion categories, Topshop Topman Perth will offer petites, cosmetics, vintage boutique, London Fashion Week runway collection Unique and maternity,” Hilton says of what you can find in store. “In Topman we will have suits, pro-sports and Topman Ltd. The Perth store will participate in all major collaborations including the first-to-market fashion, taken from the unique catwalk show at London fashion week.”

And in true Topshop style, the brand also provides personal shopping for free.

“The complimentary service provides customers with a premium shopping experience, without any hassle. In the privacy of their own suite, customers are given their own personal shopper to help find exactly what they need – from the perfect pair of jeans to the ultimate capsule wardrobe. The personal shopping service with exclusive suites will be available for both Topshop and Topman.”

Topshop is definitely a cultural phenomenon, says Hilton, as the consumer can trust that what Topshop Topman delivers to store is always going to be new to market, on-trend, yet still allow the individual to dress to their comfort levels. “There are not many brands in the world that can do this successfully.”
