On Saturday, July 12, Perth-based theatrical rockers, The Brown Study Band, will launch their debut full-length album, Imaginations, at the Rosemount Hotel.
Established for eight years, this four-piece outfit will appeal to the person who likes their music challenging but not mind exhausting, unpredictable whilst maintaining continuity, and occasionally absurd but still feeling like it means something.
The Brown Study Band’s dramatic sound, riddled with a tongue-in-cheek sense of humour, draws influence mostly from ’90s alt-rock and Hollywood film scores. As they jump in and out of genres that were probably not invented to be jumped in and out of, The Brown Study Band’s tourettes-esque qualities are often compared to Zappa or Mr. Bungle, and make for an entertaining live show.
“If it’s surprises you want, then The Brown Study Band deliver in spades… an entire venue of punters were rocked, shocked, confused and entertained.”
– X-Press Magazine
The Brown Study Band’s accolades so far include 2010 National Campus Band state champions, and 2011 Next Big Thing grand finalists.
Music lovers considering catching The Brown Study Band for the first time can expect to experience one of most individual, intriguing and entertaining original acts Perth has to offer. Support on the night comes from Hailmary and Triangle FIght.
