The Hydey, a short film delving into the vibrant punk, rock and indie scene at the legendary Hyde Park Hotel, drew a lot of praise when it first played at the 2011 Revelation Film Festival, yet that seven-minute salvo was only the tip of the iceberg. Now, two years later, the full-length version is just about ready to see the light of day.
Directed by Dr Lindsay Hallam and produced by X-Press Local Music & Arts Editor, Travis Johnson, Fridey At The Hydey draws on countless hours of interviews and archival footage to paint a portrait of a very special – albeit very rough around the edges – time and place in Perth music history.
